Flotilla Commander's Message

As we begin September, please don’t forget the Change of Watch November 12th. It’s on the Star Ship Dining Yacht. The price is $53.00 per person including transportation. We only have a few seats left on the bus on a first paid first saved basis.  If you plan to attend, please send your check to Momi Magyar.

Members who have not yet paid their dues for the year 2006,  please send your $40.00 check to Momi Magyar. Dis-enrollment for non-payment of dues is September 30th.

I’ve received a number of compliments on how well the Flotilla performed at the celebration of Irv Knopf’s 45th Anniversary with the Auxiliary. Vice Commodore Allen  Brown send a hand written note praising the efforts of the Flotilla and asked that I pass on a well-done to the membership. And of course a special thanks to Bob & Marie High and Ruth & Harry Bruno for helping to make the evening such a success.

Our PE season begins in a few short days and it takes a number of people to put together the kind of presentation our Flotilla does. Our greatest need is members to come to the classes to help with registration, knots, assistants, and questions from the students. If you can help us by coming just one night it would help.

Elections are being held in October this year at the request of the Division Officers. To run for office, please see Bud Hynes and to hold a Staff Position please see either Judi or I. Some of the present staff will retire from their position. This is an excellent opportunity for newer members to become active in the Flotilla.

Right now we’re entering the prime Hurricane week of the season. It’s been a bit slow the last few weeks, but don’t let your guard down. If you haven’t planned for a bad storm yet, make your list and get your supplies now.
