For 15 years between 1975 and 1990, Ben and Emily Mills were stalwarts of Flotilla 86 with Emily being Secretary of Records and Ben handling the Treasurer position for 10 years each. Active in Flotilla on-the-water operations, Ben served in the Merchant Marine in WWII and had three boats torpedoed out from under him (two in the Atlantic, and one in the Pacific). Both Ben and Emily retired from active Flotilla work in the early 1990's, with Ben passing away a year ago. Emily asked to have his ashes spread in the Gulf, and on November 6, Walt Jennings took Emily and 9 other relatives out to place Bens' ashes over the Flotilla 86 Burial Site.
