Commander Keyes called the meeting to order at 1930 with thirty-four members present. Guests were Fred and Betty Shaneyfelt from Nokomis, FL and Gary Glittenberg from
Costa Mesa,
CA
Minutes were approved as printed in the March Fore and Aft.
Commander Keyes introduced our special guest
Commissioner Sharon Staub. Commander Keyes asked officers to introduce
themselves and to explain their duties.
Commissioner Staub spoke to Flotilla, showed a poster with circles on certain areas that are future projects the county have projected to do in the future, explained the projects that would affect us, such as Big Pass and the Venice Inlet. Money has been allocated to purchase two marinas in Sarasota County which will benefit the boating community.. A question and answer period followed , members found this to be very informative.
FSO-FN Momi Magyar presented the budget to member and explained the income and expenses to members, a motion to accept was made by
Lou Magyar seconded Bob High. budget accepted, a detailed budget was presented to each member.
Staff Reports
FSO-PA Al Bidwick stated that members were needed to man the booth at the Community Day in Nokomis.
FSO-PS Paul Corcoran eight new members, he is waiting for Coast Guard numbers.
Fellowship- On the trip to Captiva we will meet at Marina Max at 10:00 am on Saturday to leave for Captiva, two boats will leave on Friday in the am.
Walt Jennings explained the route, gave each boater a map to follow and what markers to watch for to make the correct turns. A schedule was presented to members with activities that are scheduled. We will return home on Saturday.
Good of the Flotilla drawing was won by Bob
Schneider, we thank Bob for presenting the proceeds to be used for phone cards by our Military.
